MUSIC POWER for ALL. provides music therapy sessions to both individual and group needs in Hiroshima, Japan.
We serve children, adults and their families with special or specific needs, as well as, nursery schools, public schools, public health communities, hospitals, nursing homes, and day care service providers.
We are committed to providing quality music making experiences, as well as, providing services for educational programs that are intended for people of various ages.

What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.
Music therapy is not limited to just enjoying music and having patients just singing-along with a famous piece of music.
Music therapy involves the use of clinically proven music interventions by a trained music therapist, who has formally completed a properly credentialed music therapy program.

Who are we?

We are certified music therapists that are also approved by the Japanese Music Therapy Association or Japan Education Council for Music Therapist.
Our objectives are to determine and utilize music various therapy approaches that effectively aid in the restoration, maintenance, improvement in mental and physical health.
To that end, we believe in the dignity and value of every person, thus we promote the use of music in therapy, to also establish and maintain high standards in public service, and to require of ourselves to live up to the utmost highest level of professional and ethical conduct.-American Music Therapy Association

Introducing our
Chief Music Therapist

Miho Kariya, M.A

Miho is an energetic music therapist, music therapy supervisor and mental health counselor with over 15 years of professional experience.
She also actively teaches music therapy to undergraduate students in Hiroshima Bunka Gakuen University’s nursing department.
Miho is committed to providing the best music therapy and music making experiences for your group or individual needs.
Miho also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music performance from the City College of New York, where she studied Jazz and Latin music under professors and musicians that are well-known in both genres of music.
After receiving her master’s degree in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University, Miho started her career as a music therapist in New York City.
Her experience included working closely with infants in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a major hospital in the city.
Her experience also extended to working with children and adults with special needs, elderly with cases of dementia or who were in hospice care.
Currently, Miho closely works with institutions such as the Hiroshima Prefectural Hospital, Futaba Hospital, and in the after school program for children at Kizuna (a licensed and recognized NPO).
In her spare time, Miho also devotes her time and energy as a flutist in one of Hiroshima’s most unique Latin Salsa Bands (El Combo Del Paz), and she serves as a drum circle facilitator and experienced translator for visiting drum circle instructors from around the world.
